Longhorns throttle PC-H to move to 18-0
Pond Creek-Hunter scored twice as many points as the last time it played against Dover.
Yet, the Panthers still lost by 42.
The Longhorns ran their record to 18-0 on Friday with a 74-32 victory on Pond Creek-Hunter’s home court.
The teams last met in the finals of the Skeltur Conference Tournament just over a year ago.
The Longhorns prevailed in that defensive battle, 23-16, to claim their first Skeltur title in more than three decades.
That was about a week after Pond Creek-Hunter had defeated Dover on its home floor.
But this showdown was all Dover as the guests made 14 3-pointers and led by 26 by halftime.
Sophomore Kyler Williams made six of those 3-pointers and scored a career-high 22 points.
He poured in three treys and 13 points in the second quarter when Dover went on a 21-8 run.
Williams also threw down a dunk in the game.
Casen Buck added four 3-pointers and scored 14 points.
Daxx Compton contributed 16 points with most of it coming in the paint or at the free throw line.
The Longhorns added to their significant lead with six treys and 25 points in the third quarter.
Buck contributed half of them while A.J. Avila, Williams and Compton made one apiece.
PC-H girls grab win
The Lady Longhorns were dealt their fourth straight defeat as they were downed 47-23.
Dover kept it close early and trailed just 14-9 after a quarter.
Remi Goodwin and Emerson Belt combined for all those points.
But Dover managed just 7 more points over the next two quarters as the home team pulled away.
Goodwin paced Dover with 12 points.
