OCA All-State has strong county flavor

Three Kingfisher County basketball players have been named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State team for boys basketball.

Named to the Small West squad were Okarche’s Jett Mueggenborg and Easton Roby and Cashion’s Parker Mitchell.

The Small West squad will play the Small East team at the annual OCA All-State Games this July in Edmond.

The Small West will be coached by Okarche’s Aaron West.

Okarche completed a “three-peat” this season by winning a third consecutive Class A state championship.

Mueggenborg and Roby were four-year starters and went 114-10 in their careers.

In his senior season, Mueggenborg averaged 28.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.4 steals a game.

He became Okarche’s alltime leading scorer during his senior season and finished with 2,845 points, 910 rebounds and 500 assists.

He was a three-time Class A state tournament MVP and a four-time Three Rivers Conference MVP.

Roby averaged 16.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2 steals a game.

He finished his career with 1,832 points, 695 rebounds and 339 assists.

He was named to the Class A state all-tournament team three times.

Mitchell averaged 20.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds a game during his senior season.

He scored 1,165 career points, including 1,147 points at Cashion the last two years.

During his junior season, he helped lead Cashion to the Class 2A state tournament and he was named to the OBCA All-Region 1 team.

Cashion reached the area consolation championship game this season.

Joining West on the bench as the Small West assistant coach will be Billy Karr, who guided Chattanooga to the Class B-II state tournament.

Karr was a longtime assistant at Okarche under Aaron West’s father, the late Ray West.

Several other Kingfisher County players were also named to the OCA’s All-Star by class teams: Class 4A - Hayes White, Kingfisher Class 2A - Kyle Yowell and Brayden Stuemky, Cashion Class B-II - Brennan Fletcher, Dover
