Okarche, Lomega teams move into semis

Three girls teams from the Three Rivers Conference advanced to the semifinals of the Coyle Invitational with wins on Thursday.

That includes top-seeded Okarche, which handed Mulhall-Orlando a 72-39 defeat in teh quarterfi nals.

The Lady Warriors took on Okeene in the Friday’s semifinal (after press time). Okeene defeated Coyle Thursday.

The other semifi nal pits conference foes Crescent and Watonga against one another.

Crescent handed Oilton a 59-17 loss while Watonga moved on with a 52-32 victory over Southwest Covenant.

Crescent and Watonga split two previously-played games this season.

On the boys’ side, Okarche will have to defeat Watonga for a third time this season if it hopes to advance to the tournament’s championship game.

The Warriors defeated Okeene 82-44 in Thursday’s quarterfinal while Watonga toppled Crescent 55-50.

Okarche beat Watonga in overtime early this season and then again, but more handily, in the third-place game of the conference tournament two weeks ago.

The other semifi nal sees Southwest Covenant battling Oilton...

Lomega saw both of its teams advance to the semifinals of the Cherokee Strip Conference Tournament in Enid.

The five-time defending champion Lady Raiders had four players score in double figures as they battered Deer Creek-Lamont 94-29.

Lomega is the tournament’s top seed. It played Kremlin-Hillsdale in one semifinal Friday (after press time). The other semi pitted Cherokee against second-seeded Burlington.

The Raiders dispatched of Timberlake 47-30 to move into the semis.

They played top-seeded Ringwood in the semifinals. Lomega beat Ring-wood 59-32 on the road last Tuesday (see story below).

The Dover squads were sent to the consolation bracket of the Skeltur Conference Tournament, also being played in Enid.

Both teams had to take on the top-seeded teams from Garber.

The Lady Longhorns were dealt an 87-18 defeat. Dover’s boys were defeated 108-31 by the Wolverines.

The Lady Longhorns played Cimarron in Friday’s consolation semifi nal while the boys took on Drummond.
