Vance Raney scored his share of points in Cashion’s most recent win, but the final five in the last 80 seconds of the game were by far the biggest.

Raney nailed the game-tying 3-pointer and then made the go-ahead free throws as the Wildcats won 60-58 at Morrison on Dec. 18.

Cashion trailed 58-55 with time running down before Raney popped a 3-pointer at the 1:18 mark.

Jonah Jenkins grabbed a steal on Morrison’s ensu-ing possession and, after a timeout, Cashion worked the clock before Raney was fouled with 13 seconds left.

The junior made both free throws and Cashion forced an errant shot to close the game.

Raney ended his night with 19 points as a trio of Wildcats scored all but three of the team’s points.

Austin Frazier pouredin a game-high 23 points and also had nine rebounds.

Jenkins just missed a triple-double as he had 15 points, eight assists and 10 rebounds.

The game was close throughout as Morrison led by a point after the first quarter and at halftime.

Cashion tied it up to end the third.

The Wildcats enter the Christmas break with a 5-1 mark and are ranked fourth in Class 2A.

They return to action Jan. 5 at Oklahoma Bible Academy and, for the first time, will have the entirety of their team with the completion of football season.

Lady Wildcats spread scoring wealth in win

Balanced scoring helped the Cashion girls basketball team avoid a losing streak.

Four double figures as Cashion built a sizable lead then held on to beat Morrison 53-46 on the road Dec. 18.

Up four points at halftime, Cashion used a 15-5 run to lead 39-25 entering the fourth.

Morrison’s comeback attempt fell well short.

The hometown Wildcats’ Maddy Wehrenberg poured in 29 points to lead all scorers.

However, no other Morrison player managed more than six points.

Cashion countered with a multi-pronged attack led by Brook Shelly’s 13 points.

Lauren 12, Issy Reeves 11 and Nee-10.

Cashion moved to 4-2. The Lady Wildcats were coining off a loss to Hooker in their last game.

They play next Jan. 5 at OBA.
