Rodeo fans, riders in for a treat August 15-16 at Hennessey Arena
Cowboys and cowgirls from all around will be competing on horseback, or riding a bull, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 15-16, during Hennessey’s annual open rodeo events.
Rodeo fans should enter the arena by 7:30 p.m. for an 8 p.m. rodeo start.
New Paved Parking
There is now paved parking on the west side of the Hennessey Arena which is located at 122 N. Arapaho St.: U.S. Highway 81 (Main Street) to the only stoplight then west on Oklahoma Avenue and south onto Arapaho Street.
Admission Costs and Kid Fun
Admission stays the same for each night: $10 for adults and $5 for ages 6-12.
Each night there will be a greased pig, a calf scramble and mutton bustin’ events for the kids at the rodeo.
Entry fee is $20 for mutton busting and there will be a limited number of sheep so sign up when you get there.
Rodeo Events and Who to Call
Enter day of rodeo and books close at 7:30 p.m.
Entry fee for Junior Barrels (14 and under) is $50, and the entry fee is $100 for these events: Ranch Bronc, Tie Down Roping, Breakaway Roping, Steer Wrestling, Open Barrels, Bull Riding; Junior Bulls (16 and under) and Team Roping ($50 each rider).
Buckles and $3,500 in added money for winners.
