Karlee Harviston came up big in the first half and in the fourth quarter.

Yareli Obeso was huge in the third.

Together, they helped the Dover Lady Longhorns pull within one win of a Class B area tournament.

Dover defeated Glencoe 41-33 Monday in the regional consolation semifinal at Agra.

The win advanced the Lady Longhorns to Tuesday afternoon’s consolation championship (after press time) against Coyle. The winner of that game advances to the area tournament, which starts Thursday in Stroud.

The Lady Longhorns and Glencoe were tied after three quarters, but Dover ended the game on a 12-4 run.

Harviston went 4 for 4 from the free throw line to help seal the win. The team also got big 3-pointers from Madi Moeller and Karlee McNulty in the final eight minutes.

Harviston was the only consistent scorer in the first half.

She scored seven of Dover’s 10 points in the first quarter, which saw the team fall behind by two points.

Harviston then scored six of Dover’s nine second-quarter points as it pulled within 20-19.

She ended her night with a team-high 17 points.

Dover was able to tie the game up in the third quarter, thanks largely to Obeso, who nailed two treys and scored all eight of her points.

McNulty ended with seven points while Katelyn Harviston scored six.

The Lady Longhorns also held off elimination on Saturday when they opened the regional with an 81-51 victory against Mason.

The point total was Dover’s highest of the season. It’s second-best was 67 points.

Six different Lady Longhorns scored in the first quarter alone as Dover built a 20-12 lead and just kept adding to it.

Three of them ended in double figures.

Katelyn Harviston led the way with 16 points.

Karlee McNulty added 13 and Hope Caldwell poured in 12.

Dover entered Tuesday’s game with an 8-12 record.
