Kingfisher’s Taylor Watkins, left, and Mia Farrell just missed out on the state tennis tournament. The Lady Jacket duo placed fifth in No. 2 doubles in the 4A regional at Earlywine Tennis Center in Oklahoma City. Watkins, a junior, and Farrell, a sophomore, were coming off a third-place finish at the Clinton Tournament last week. At the regional, they went 3-2. Their second match was a 2 1/2 hour marathon they lost in a third-set tie-breaker. After a 15-minute break, the duo came back to beat Southeast in straight sets before losing 6-4, 6-4 to Christian Heritage Academy. Farrell and Watkins bounced back to beat Harrah in a tie-breaker to earn fifth place. [Photo provided]
