The No. 1 doubles team garnered Kingfisher its only points of the Class 4A boys state tennis tournament, but both doubles squads were able to advance to the second day.

Logan Castonguay and Easton Pine placed eighth out of 16 teams in their bracket after eventually dropping the seventh-place match to the team from Regent Prep.

Pine and Castonguay mirrored much of the rest of the KHS team in taking a tour through the non-public school ranks in the tournament.

They opened with a 6-2, 6-2 loss to Metro Christian before bouncing back and beating the team from Rejoice Christian 6-1, 6-0.

That pitted them against Wagoner, which handed the KHS duo a 6-1 loss in the first set. However, Pine and Castonguay followed up with 6-4 wins in the next two sets to take the match and advance to the consolation semifinals.

It was there they were defeated 6-2, 6-1 by Clinton, putting them into the seventh-place match.

Caden Kitchens and Xavier Ridenour began play with a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Holland Hall, which went on to finish as the state runner-up in the No. 2 doubles bracket.

Kitchens and Ridenour took down the Regent Prep squad 6-2, 6-2 in their first consolation match.

They then met up with Lincoln Christian and hung tough before losing 6-3, 6-4.

Maverick Ridenour qualified in No. 1 singles where he met Enre Boshoff of Regent Prep in the opening round.

Ridenour was toppled 6-0, 6-0, which pitted him against Cooper Knutsen of Metro Christian in the consolation bracket. Knutsen won 6-2, 6-1.

Nathan Smalley took on Henryetta’s Ethan Loveall in the No. 2 singles opener. Loveall advanced with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Harrah’s James Rodriguez then eliminated Smalley 6-0, 6-0 in their consolation match.

Cascia Hall won the 4A state championship with 33 points.

Holland Hall was the runner-up with 25 and Christian Heritage third with 23.
