Kingfi sher’s showdown with Weatherford went much the same as last year’s.

The Lady Jackets hung tough for much of three quarters only to see Weatherford pull away late.

That’s what happened last Friday night inside the APB as 4A’s seventh-ranked Lady Eagles went home with a 57-42 victory.

The loss dropped KHS to 1-2, with both the losses coming to teams in the top-eight of Class 4A.

Turnovers and rebounding were Kingfi sher’s foils in this one as Weatherford scored 15 second-chance points thanks to 13 offensive rebounds.

The Lady Jackets also turned it over 22 times as Weatherford turned those into another 17 points.

KHS had particular problems containing Addy Hoffman. The guard had 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Four of those boards were offensive and Hoffman scored nine points in the fourth quarter when Weatherford outscored KHS 20-13.

Ashlyn Sage added 15 points and 10 rebounds while Kennadi Price pulled down nine boards.

Weatherford out-rebounded KHS 30-20 overall.

Still, the Lady Jackets were in this one from the start.

Allison Green popped a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter before Weatherford closed it strong and led 15-10.

Kingfisher was also bolstered early by the play of sophomore Rayland Garner.

She scored eight in the first half and her hustle plays kept KHS within 28-21 at the half.

Green and Jenna Mueggenborg added third-quarter treys, but the Lady Jackets couldn’t shrink their defi cit as those were the only fi eld goals.

Hoffman, Sage and Peyton Foster took over in the fourth.

Foster finished with 12 points.

Green led Kingfisher with 15.

She was 5 of 9 from 3-point range and KHS was 7 of 17 (41.2 percent) as a team.

However, the Lady Jackets were just 7 of 25 (28 percent) from inside the arc and 7 of 21 (33 percent) from the foul line.

Garner scored 11 points and also had six rebounds, five steals and fi ve more defl ections.

Jenni Beebe scored eight points while adding five rebounds and a team-high four assists.
