It’s been quite the few days for Abbie Myers. The Kingfi sher High School senior committed last Monday to continue her basketball career at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. On Tuesday, Myers scored 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as the Lady Jackets defeated Weatherford 47-42 (see related story). Her 10th rebound in that game was the 500th of Myers’ career. She was presented a commemorative basketball by coach Taylor Young during halftime of the boys game Thursday night. That just happened to be Kingfi sher’s homecoming. Prior to helping lead the Lady Jackets to their 10th straight win over Community Christian, Myers was crowned the 2025-26 KHS basketball homecoming queen. Fellow senior Jackson Willbanks was named the homecoming king and they’re pictured with junior attendants Amelia De La Torre and Rip Richards. Amelia is the daughter of Gonzalo and Shelby De La Torre. Rip is the son of Tanner and Stephany Richards. Others in the homecoming court were queen candidate Reese Roof as well as Mattie Slezickey, Callie Blair and Taitym Walker and king candidates Michael Easley, Hayes White, Cash Laird and Kevin Smith.
