Walker scores game-winning goal as KHS sweeps Alva

Not only did the Kingfisher girls soccer team pick up its first win of the season on Tuesday, it did so in dramatic fashion.

With just three minutes left in the second overtime, freshman Peyton Walker took a pass from Hannah Click and put it in the net to give KHS a 2-1 home victory over Alva.

The score broke a tie that had been in place since 13 minutes remained in regulation when Alva was able to score its lone goal.

The teams played a scoreless first overtime before Walker scored the game winner.

It gave KHS a 1-6 overall record and moved the Lady Jackets to 1-2 in District 3A-1.

Kingfisher took a 1-0 lead into halftime when Ximena Agundiz-Charqueño scored on an assist from Maleonia Vogt.

KHS travels to Newkirk Tuesday then hosts unbeaten Oklahoma Christian School on Thursday.

Jackets dominate Goldbugs in boys match

Kingfisher’s boys took care of business in their district showdown with Alva in an 11-1 victory.

Already up 4-0 at half, the Jackets netted seven more goals in the second half to pull away.

It upped their 3A-1 mark to 2-1, which put them in a four-way tie for second place.

The Jackets were 3-4 overall after the win.Aldo Muñoz scored four goals while Noah Thomas picked up his own hat trick with three to lead KHS. Thomas also had an assist.

Alan Muñoz added two goals and two assists.

Chase Davis and Aaron DeLaTorre each scored one goal.

DeLaTorre added three assists to his total while Konner Baartman had two and Davis one.
