KHS STAYS WEST; CASHION HEADED EAST

Kingfisher and Cashion will be heading in opposite directions next week for their wrestling regionals.

The OSSAA released regional assignments for all classes last week.

KHS will stay on the west side for its 3A regional, which will be hosted by Marlow.

Cashion, also in 3A and in its first year as a program, will head east to the regional hosted by Perry.

Regionals are Feb. 15-16.

Joining KHS and Marlow will be Bethel, Bridge Creek, Chandler, Checotah, Comanche, Cordell, Crossings Christian, Davenport, Davis, Geary, Henryetta, Hinton, Hobart, Lexington, Little Axe, Mangum, Morris, Perkins-Tryon, Plainview, Prague, Sulphur, Vian, Walters, Watonga and Wilburton.

Teams with Cashion and Perry will be Barnsdall, Berryhill, Blackwell, Douglass, Holland Hall, Hulbert, Inola, Jay, Locust Grove, Metro Christian, Mill-wood, Morrison, Newkirk, Oklahoma Christian Academy, Okmulgee, Parkview, Pawhuska, Pawnee, Salina Sequoyah Tahlequah, Sperry, Star Spencer, Tonkawa, Vinita and Warner.

The fop-five placers at each weight class from both regionals will qualify for the following weekend’s state tournament at State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City.

The fifth-place regional finisher will take on the fourth-place finisher from the opposite regional in a wrestle-in match to begin the state tournament.

The winner of that match will advance to the full bracket while the loser will be eliminated from further competition.
