Paige Yeoman was nearly flawless in the goal Thursday night and it lifted the Kingfisher girls soccer team to its second victory of the season.

Yeoman delivered a shutout in regulation, then allowed just one goal in a shootout to lift KHS to a 2-1 win at Oklahoma Christian School.

After the teams ended regulation scoreless, Kingfisher got a shootout goal from Nayeli Gutierrez to tie it up and then Loren Ballard, on Kingfisher’s last kick of the night, brought home the win with her goal.

The victory snapped a two-game losing skid for the Lady Jackets.

They were defeated 1-0 at home by Harding Charter Prep last Monday.

Harding’s only goal against Bailey Whipple was a penalty kick in the second half.

Whipple had 11 saves.

The Lady Jackets also lost 7-0 March 8 at Newcastle.

They opened the season March 5 with a 1-0 win at Del City.

Maitland Pickle’s penalty kick in the second half was the difference.

Yeoman also got a shutout in goal in that contest.

The KHS boys were defeated 5-0 by OCS on Thursday to drop their record to 1-3.

They beat Del City 2-1 March 5 in their season opener.

Ali Padilla’s goal in the 16th minute gave the Jackets their first score of the season.

Alan Muñoz delivered the game-winner in the 35th minute on an assist from Joel Muñoz.

Yibram Perez was in goal for the first half and had nine saves. Jose Marquez collected seven saves in the second half.

Kingfisher lost 3-1 at Newcastle. Padilla recorded the lone goal for the Jackets on an assist from Omar Casillas.

They were also defeated 7-1 by Harding with Charlie Saucedo earning his first goal of the season.

The Kingfisher teams begin their district season when they open 4A-2 play March 26 at home against Alva.
