7 bids submitted for county road projects
Seven companies submitted bids on asphalt overlay projects on roads in Commissioner Districts 1 and 3 Monday.
Commissioners tabled action at the weekly meeting to allow additional study before taking action at next week’s commission meeting.
It was announced the courthouse will be closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, thus the commission meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Commissioners voted for District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss to represent them on the board of trustees of Northern Oklahoma Development Authority (NODA) in 2026.
The annual county jail report by Sheriff Aaron Pitts received unanimous approval as did the transfer of a 2010 pickup truck from the office of emergency management to Big Four Fire Department.
Pitts’ jail report showed a total of $81,675.36 annual expenditures, primarily the cost of feeding prisoners at a cost of $3.50 per day.
The report also showed an average of 28.45 inmates per day – 10,386 for the year.
In other action, commissioners approved the following:
• A public access drive on N 2950 Road for Tess White one-half mile north of the intersection of N2950 and E790 roads in District 1, including a 24-foot by 20-inch culvert;
• A title sheet for restoring bridge #147 in District 3. The bridge is located four miles west and nine miles north of Loyal;
• Minutes, purchase orders, warrants and payroll for Jan. 12;
• Monthly reports of the treasurer, election board, sheriff and court clerk offi ces;
• Monthly state reimbursement claims for the offices of election board and district attorney’s office;
• Changes in requisition in several departments on receiving offices, including: - Adding Chris Prible as requisitioning officer and adding Levi Copeland as additional receiving officer for the Hennessey Fire Department; - Removing Tommy Humphries as requisitioning officer for the District Attorney’s office and adding Alex Sloan; -Adding Don Vogt as receiving officer for Commissioner District 3; -Removing Lindy Peterman as requisitioning officer for OSU Extension and Free Fair offices (Peterman has never served in the position; action was taken to correct records).
All commissioners – Jeff Moss, District 1; Michael Sparks, District 2, chairman, and Anthony Schwarz, vice-chairman, District 3 – were present for the meeting, along with numerous representatives of paving companies; Corey Cadell, oil and gas sales representative for Penely Oil, Sheriff Aaron Pitts, County Engineer Nik Smith, Kingfi sher citizen Kelly Buck, Emergency Management Director Randy Poindexter, Hennessey Fire Department Chief Brandon Scott and County Clerk Emily Lee as official minute clerk.
