Accident claims life of Dover student
A 12-year-old girl from Dover died in a rollover accident Saturday evening.
According to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, four juveniles were in a Polaris side-byside about one mile south and west into a property just before 5:30 p.m.
The report said the vehicle spun into a donut, causing it to roll over.
One of the passengers was trapped by the rollover bar of the side-by-side, according to the report.
There were no other reported injuries.
Neither the driver nor the passengers were wearing seatbelts or helmets, it was stated in the report.
The OHP does not release names of juveniles in its accident reports.
In a Facebook post by Dover Public Schools, it was confirmed the deceased was a student at Dover. The others involved in the accident are also students there. On Tuesday, it was announced by the school that a celebration of life for Lexi Robles will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Dover High School gym.
The school will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. on that day.
The school also made extra counselors available this week “to speak with students, staff and the community.”
There has also been a fund established for the Robles family at Community State Bank in Dover to help with costs.
Donations can be sent to: Community State Bank, ATTN Robles Family Fund, P.O. Box 236, Dover, OK 73734.
