DITCHES weren’t overflowing Friday morning, but certainly saturated after another bout of rain in the early morning hours. More than seven inches have fallen here in the last week and more rain is forecasted for this week. [KT&FP Staff Photo]

Additional soaking rains fell on Kingfi sher last week, putting crops, pastures, lawns and gardens in prime shape for the spring season.

Local Weather Observer Steven Loftis recorded 4.45 inches of moisture for the last three days of the week – 1.65 inches on Wednesday, 2.33 inches Thursday and .47 inch on Friday.

That brought the week’s total to 7.7 inches and the year-to-date total to 15.56 inches.

Wednesday - the last day of April - rainfall brought that month’s total to 8.22.

Some areas of the state experienced the wettest April on record.

The National Weather Service forecast called for a chance of thunderstorms through Friday, then clearing skies beginning Friday night followed by clearing skies and sunny days through Sunday.

A chance of additional thunderstorms was forecasted for Monday night and Tuesday.
