Two of the four people facing charges in relation to a case involving the Kingfisher High School football program were in court Wednesday.

KHS head football coach Jeff Myers and former assistant coach Micah Nall made brief appearances before District Judge Paul Woodward in Kingfisher County District Court.

Woodward assigned Myers’ case to Blaine County Associate District Judge Allison Lafferty and set Myers’ next appearance for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Myers was charged with felony child neglect last month after an investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

He made his initial court appearance on Oct. 18 and pleaded not guilty.

Nall was charged with felony child abuse and perjury.

He was making his first appearance Wednesday and pleaded not guilty.

He will also reappear at 9 a.m. Jan. 2 before Judge Lafferty.

Charged the same day were Justin Mecklenburg and Dana Golbek with misdemeanor counts of failure to report child abuse.

Mecklenburg is the father of Mason Mecklenburg, whose civil suit against Kingfisher Public Schools, Myers, Nall, former assistant coach Blake Eaton and current assistant coach Derek Patterson is currently set for trial Dec. 5 in federal court.

Golbek is a school board member.

According to court files, Mecklenburg was not at Wednesday’s proceedings. Woodward reset an appearance for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Golbek was originally set to appear Wednesday, but Woodward’s office on Monday reset the appearance for Dec. 6, according to court filings.

It has since been reset again, this time for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3.
