Cashion man makes deal before felony trial begins
On the day his jury trial was set to begin, a Cashion man pleaded no contest to two felony charges in which he was accused of shooting at other individuals with a gun.
Chad Gene Botchlet, 45, made his plea Monday before District Judge Paul Woodward in Kingfisher County District Court.
Botchlet’s jury trial was slated to begin that day for two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
According to court records, Botchlet was sentenced to a seven-year deferred sentence and a $2,000 fine for each count. The sentences will run concurrently.
He’s also to complete 200 hours of community service and have probation supervised by the Department of Corrections, according to court documents.
Botchlet appeared in court Monday along with his attorney, Irven Box of Oklahoma City.
Botchlet was arrested on May 7, 2023, after being accused of shooting at Tyrel McLane, owner and operator of M6 Wrecker & Recovery, and one of his employees the previous day, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The affidavit said McLane stated he was towing a vehicle to his impound lot when his rollback wrecker lost a set of dually tires.
After locating the tires and when searching for a When police arrived, they located a shell casing from a .22 caliber gun in the front yard and then collected three bullet fragments from McLane’s rollback wrecker. Botchlet was originally charged on May 10 and pleaded not guilty during a court appearance that day. Prior to Monday, his most recent court appearance was Dec. 3, 2025, at which time the jury trial was set.

When Carlos Padilla, McLane’s employee, arrived with a wrecker to haul the vehicle that was previously being towed, McLane said the shouting from the man continued and then both men said they heard what sounded like gunshots, according to the PC affidavit.
