County 4-H’ers compete in quiz bowl, skillathon

Kingfisher County 4-H hosted its sixth annual Livestock Quiz Bowl and Skillathon on Monday, Feb. 7, at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds.

Youth participating in the Livestock Skillathon had to identify 17 items that could be found and used in the showing and caring for their livestock as well as identify 10 types of nutrition feeds.

Caroline Oakley and Jakob LaBlue of Cashion tied for first place, Madi Bragg of Kingfisher was second and Zoie Cox of Cashion and Rylan Burns of Kingfisher tied for third place.

Following that competition, five teams competed in the quiz bowl competition.

Youth must answer questions based on animal care, species specific needs, breeds of livestock and animal husbandry.

The competition covered questions for cattle, sheep, goats, and swine.

Kingfisher 4-H placed first, Cashion 4-H #2 second place and Cashion 4-H #3 placed third.
