Hennessey’s Main St. will keep two lanes open Sunday during afternoon car show_to ‘help out’ local farmers
Hennessey’s Main Street (U.S. Highway 81) will be kept open Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. for the town’s car show “to help out farmers” as they continue with their harvest.
However, it will be reduced to using the two inside lanes during the event.
That’s what Town Administrator Tiffany Rowen told the Times & Free Press when called Wednesday about the change.
Keeping streets open from State Highway 51 South to Iowa Street for farmers and businesses had been discussed at the town board’s June 12 meeting.
Rowen was to contact the state Department of Transportation about the plans.
But, since the town is keeping two of the four lanes open, it is not required to contact ODOT, she said.
Drivers need to slow down and be extra careful to watch for children and other pedestrians during the car show.
That’s what Town Clerk and Office Manager Shelley Burch told the KT&FP in an earlier call to Town Hall and Burch also participated in the call with Rowen.
