It’s a not a typical result when a freight train and passenger vehicle collide.

A Crossett, Ark., woman was treated and released from an area hospital Sunday after her 2019 Honda Accord was struck by a Union Pacific train a mile north of Hennessey just before noon.

Mallory Clavett, the driver of the car, and her husband were staying in a motor home in the Shorthorn RV Park, located about a mile west of the crash site, near the intersection of county roads E610 and N2865.

According to Hennessey Police Department radio logs provided to the Times & Free Press, a spokesperson from Union Pacific reported the crash, describing that the train struck the car “straight on” and then train operators saw the driver climb out of the demolished vehicle.

Scott Hajek, owner of the RV park, confirmed that Clavett and her husband, who is doing temporary work at the Koch plant, have been residents at the park .

Kingfisher Sheriff’s Office, Hennessey police and fire departments, Life EMS and Oklahoma Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene.

OHP Lt. Bill Reitz confirmed that the accident was classified by his department as “noninjury,” the term utilized when no one involved in a crash is hospitalized.

Reitz said Clavett was taken to a hospital where she was treated and released.

The totaled vehicle was transported to the RV park.
