KHS senior Beck is QuestBridge program finalist

By
Jorden Beck

Kingfisher High School has another finalist for the prestigious QuestBridge Match Scholarship program.

Jorden Beck was announced as a finalist last week.

QuestBridge is a national nonprofit that connects the nation’s most exceptional youth from lower-income families with leading institutions of higher education.

Finalists are able to rank up to 15 colleges in Questbridge’s network to be “matched” – admitted early with a Match Scholarship – to the college that appears highest on their list that also wants to match with them.

Those who “match” with a college or university are notified on Dec. 1 and will receive a full four-year scholarship.

Finalists who do not match or choose not to rank colleges can use the Quest-Bridge application to apply to college partners through other early and regular decision opportunities.

Last year, QuestBridge’s 48 college partners matched with 1,755 finalists, who are recognized as Match Scholarship recipients.

This was the highest number of Match Scholarship recipients to-date for QuestBridge.

KHS has had recent finalists and even a match in recent years.

McCall Sinclair received a four-year scholarship to the University of Virginia in 2020.

That offer was valued at $240,000.

Grace Sinclair was a finalist in 2022.

Beck’s first choice is Stanford University and said he wants to be a history major and pursue a career in either law or politics.

He is currently the National Honor Society president, senior class vice president and is the captain of the KHS academic team.

Beck is also a member of the Student Council, Students Stepping Up, has been named Student of the Month, plays baseball and named to the Central Oklahoma Conference all-conference academic team last year.
