KINGFISHER ROTARY CLUB

By
KINGFISHER ROTARY CLUB

KINGFISHER ROTARY CLUB recently hosted political candidates. Todd Russ, current member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives and a banker in Cordell, left photo, at left, and Todd Thomsen, former member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, center, were guests of the Kingfisher Rotary club last week. Russ is a candidate for the Oklahoma State Treasurer office, and Thomsen is a candidate for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. If Thomsen’s name is familiar it’s because he was the punter and kicker for the 1985 University of Oklahoma football national championship team. Thomsen graduated from OU and finished his college playing career with the 1988 season, Barry Switzer’s last season as head coach. Each speaker gave a brief synopsis of their family and work histories, and also told of their reasons for seeking political office. With them is former house member and Kingfisher Rotarian Mike Sanders. Both candidates are Republicans. Dr. Randy Grellner, right photo, at right, Kingfisher High School graduate and a current practicing physician in Cushing, was also a guest speaker of the Kingfisher Rotary club Tuesday. He is a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, and told of his concerns that our nation is in crisis, and Christian, conservative values and leadership are in short supply in Washington D.C. currently. He said he chose to run because he felt called to do what he could in the fight to save our nation from corrupt leaders with questionable moral values. Grellner has no political experience, and he said he would continue his medical practice in Cushing if elected. He is pictured with Mike Myers, Kingfisher Rotary club president. [KT&FP Staff Photos]
