KPD investigates driving violations, vandalism report
The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:
March 8 - Speeding, no driver’s license, transporting an open container, DUI-liquor or drugs and carrying a firearm while under the influence.
Officer Aaron Schlegel said in his report that he observed a northbound vehicle on U.S. 81 traveling at an excessive rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop in the area of U.S. 81 and Oklahoma Avenue.
According to the report, the 39-year-old male driver was driving without a valid driver’s license and appeared to exhibit signs of intoxication.
Schlegel performed a field sobriety test on the suspect and placed him under arrest for suspicion of DUI and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
Schlegel inventoried the vehicle and located several open containers of alcohol as well as a 9mm handgun, the report said.
The vehicle was impounded and the suspect was transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center where a breathalyzer test was performed on the suspect.
The suspect was charged with speeding 11-14 mph over speed limit, operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, transporting an open container of beer, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol aggravated and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

March 12 - Driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked.
Officer Tyler Girten said in his report that he observed a southbound vehicle on U.S. 81 traveling at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop in the area of 1000 Hospital Drive.
According to the report, the 39-year-old male driver was driving without a valid driver’s license.
Girten placed the suspect under arrest for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. The suspect was also given a written warning for speeding and a verbal warning for failure to comply with compulsory insurance law, according to the report.
The vehicle was inventoried and impounded and the suspect was transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center, the report said.

March 14 - Malicious injury/destruction of property.
Officer Matthew Hollon was dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of South Eighth Street in reference to a report of vandalism.
Annetta Harden reportedly stated she heard “a loud bang” in the afternoon of March 13 and later discovered two broken windows, with one completely removed from the window frame and two rocks on her back patio.
Hollon observed and photographed the damage, the report said.
