Kingfisher Lions Club made a $150 donation Thursday to help sponsor the third annual Christmas on Main event in Kingfi sher.

It was one of several upcoming events being promoted to the club by Chamber leaders, local organizers and city leaders.

Christmas on Main is planned Friday, Nov. 22, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Like last year, this year’s event - which is held at Block 35 - will feature Santa Claus.

Whereas last year there was one reindeer on site for the event, this year there will be two reindeer at Block 35, said Tiffany Jones, who is organizing this year’s event.

Jones said there will also be food vendors and other vendors, face painting and s’mores.

The Chamber of Commerce will also have the downtown Christmas tree lighting that night and it all coincides with Pink Friday as downtown merchants will be open for shopping.

Chamber Executive Director Shauna Rupp joined Jones in discussing the event with Lions Club members as well as several other upcoming events for which to save the date, including:

• Coffee Vibe at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 at F&M Bank;

• The annual Christmas parade and fireworks/laser show at 6 p.m Saturday, Dec. 7; and,

• The annual Chamber banquet (Monday, Jan. 27, 2025).

After Jones talked about the events happening downtown, Lions Club members voted unanimously to make a donation to help sponsor it.

City Manager Jim Thomas was also on hand to discuss local items of interest.

That included the community conversation taking place later that evening regarding the new fire station.

Thomas also discussed the soon-to-be-delivered 50-foot Christmas tree that will be placed at the entrance of Kingfisher Winter Nights in Kingfisher Park. (Ed. note: More on the tree, including the community efforts to help make it happen will be included in an upcoming edition.)

Thomas, Jones and Rupp were joined at the meeting by Chamber staff members Laura Callaham and Jaryn Buseman.

Lions Club member Mike Frey arranged for their appearance and introduced the guest speakers.
