Museum workshop to focus on meaning of gravestone symbols
A workshop Saturday, April 13, will focus on the history and meaning of gravestone symbols. The event will take place from 1-3 p.m. at the Chisholm Trail Museum and the Kingfisher Cemetery.
“Carved in Stone” will look at the language of symbols and how it has evolved.
Symbols can teach us about social memberships, occupations, hobbies, beliefs and more.
Workshop attendees will explore gravestone iconography and meanings before moving to the Kingfisher Cemetery to identify and explore symbols.
There is a cost for the workshop.
It is designed for adults or teens with a guardian.

The Chisholm Trail Museum is located at 605 Zellers Ave. in Kingfisher. The Kingfisher Cemetery is about 1.5 miles northwest of the museum along State Highway 33.
