Former Kingfisher High School football coach Micah Nall was set to have his preliminary hearing at the same time last week as Jeff Myers.

However, prior to the hearing beginning, Nall waived his right to the hearing and will be formally arraigned at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 3.

Nall appeared before Associate District Judge Allison Lafferty along with his attorney Miguel Garcia to declare his intention Thursday morning in Kingfisher County District Court.

Nall was charged with two felonies last Oct. 17.

One was for child abuse and another for perjury.

The charges were filed after an investigation that was prompted by the civil lawsuit brought against Nall, Myers, Kingfisher Public Schools, Derek Patterson and Blake Eaton in 2021.

In the probable cause affidavit filed with the charges, it was revealed that six former KHS football players interviewed by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation say they witnessed Nall wrestle a former player in the locker room when that player was a freshman.

During Thursday’s preliminary hearing for Myers, three people - Declan Haub, Keaton Abercrombie and Mecklenburg - said they witnesses Nall wrestle Gunner Snider.

He was also accused of punching a former player “in his face one or more times” and also repeated instances of verbal abuse to multiple players.

In his deposition for the civil suit, Nall admitted to wrestling Snider and said it was a “very, very poor decision,” according to the affidavit.

Nall was an assistant coach from 2013 until 2020 when he resigned after an investigation into his role in an incident at a practice referred to as “bull in the ring.”

A criminal investigation into that case ultimately led to Nall pleading guilty to obstructing the investigation by lying to a police officer.

During Thursday’s State Board of Education meeting, Nall was one of two people to have a voluntary surrender of their teaching certificates accepted.
