The Oklahoma State University chapter of the Mortar Board honor society recently announced the students who were named to its annual Top 20 Freshmen Men and Top 20 Freshmen Women list.

Among the women were three Kingfisher High School graduates.

Earning the honor, along with their majors, were:

• Ashley Casillas, applied science exercise;

• Kylie Hood, agribusiness and political science;

• Chloe Blair, agribusiness and finance.

Students who receive this recognition are selected for their demonstration of academic excellence, leadership and commitment to service during their freshman year.

All three women graduated from KHS in 2024 and are in their second year at OSU.

The trio were set to interview Sept. 14 for the honor of being named Top 10 Freshmen Women list, an honor that will likely be announced this week.

BLAIR is the daughter of David and Shelley Blair.

At OSU, she became involved in Into the Streets, President’s Leadership Council, Student Network Board, Freshman Representative Council, Student Government Association Budget Committee, Aggie-X Club, Letters of Love, Waffle Tuesday and The Table.

She’s also a member of the Kappa Delta sorority for which she’s served as executive director of finance, on the Budget Committee and participated in Spring Sing and Freshman Follies.

She regularly attends OSU athletics and campus events, earned a spot on the President’s Honor Roll and was named an OSU Ideal Graduate and a Campus Life student leader.

At KHS, her honors and activities include valedictorian, National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society, superintendent’s honor roll, Student of the Month, Students Stepping Up, FCA, FFA, National Agricultural Issues Forum bronze emblem team, National Conduct of Chapter Meetings team semifinalist and basketball.

CASILLAS is the daughter of Alfonso and Maria Casillas.

During her freshman year at OSU, Casillas became involved in Freshman Representative Council, Emerging Leaders Alliance, Pre-PA Club, Student Government Association, Best Buddies, Letters of Love, Faith and Fitness and Into the Streets.

On top of regularly attending OSU athletic events, Casillas was also involved in residential living activities, College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) Student Council events and she ran the Oklahoma City Memorial Half-Marathon.

Casillas was named to the President’s Honor Roll both semesters last year and is still involved in the same activities except those that were freshman-oriented.

Her honors and activities at KHS included National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society, superintendent’s honor roll, FCA, National Conduct of Chapter Meetings team semifinalist, competitive cheer state champion, cheer academic state champion, parliamentary procedure state champion, Students Stepping Up and track and field.

HOOD is the daughter of Shane and Janet Hood.

At OSU, she’s been involved in Student Government Association, Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature, Pre-Law Club, Students of Law in Practice, Alumni Association, Aggie-X and Letters of Love.

Within the SGA, she is currently the Public Affairs Committee chair and a College of Arts and Sciences senator.

Last year she was on the First-Year Representative Council and was a Supreme Court chief justice intern.

Hood is vice president of the Pre-Law Club and serves on the Steering Committee, Student Network Board and Homecoming Big Committee within the Alumni Association.

She is also on the Philanthropy Committee for Aggie- X.

Hood was named to the President’s Honor Roll last year, earned Agriculture Future of America Track 1 completion and was an Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature Moot Court bailiff.

Her honors and activities at KHS included valedictorian, FFA vice president, Distinguished Young Woman of Oklahoma, National Honor Society vice president, First Baptist Church student leadership team, golf, Distinguished Young Women of Kingfisher, Oklahoma Honor Society, Student Council, Girls State delegate and FCA.
