KHS, Lomega, Okarche students have stellar showings at scholastic meet
Bringing home a sweepstakes award and their share of top-10 placings, Kingfisher High School students recently showcased their academic talents at the annual Southwestern Interscholastic Meet on the SWOSU campus.
Participating in the Class II division, 22 KHS students competed in various contest categories, with every student placing in the top-12 or better in their respective categories.
KHS also took home the sweepstakes award in the technology division, receiving a plaque for their accomplishment.
Over 53 schools competed in three classes which are based on the student enrollment size for grades 9-12 and over 1,800 tests were administered, Kingfisher High School Counselor Paula Leffingwell said.
Class I is comprised of schools with 600 or more students or homeschool students; Class II is for schools with 151 to 599 students; and Class III includes schools with less than 150 students.
Students have the opportunity to test their knowledge against their peers in academic categories including fine arts, biological sciences, business, computer science, language and literature, mathematics, physical sciences, social sciences and technology.
