You built it; come see it

Kingfisher Public Schools wants you to see what you’ve built.

The school district will be holding an open house next week to show off the new Kingfisher Junior High school building to anyone who wants to take a tour.

The open house will be 5-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, prior to Kingfisher’s first home football game of the season.

“A lot of people have expressed interest in coming by to see it, so we want to open it up for them to have that chance,” said Stuart Purintun, the school’s principal.

“We’re grateful to Kingfisher for passing the bond issue to build this. We’re proud of the facility and the community should be as well. We want to show them what they’ve provided us.”

Voters passed a $16.75 million bond issue in 2019 to construct the building, which houses seventh and eighth grade students.

It was opened for student use after Spring Break of the 2021-22 school year.

It has two wings of classrooms as well as a library, kitchen, commons dining area, music room, art room and offices. One of the rooms also serves as a storm shelter.

Purintun and other KPS administrators will be on hand for the open house, as will some of the school’s teachers.

“Please feel free to come see what our students are able to use everyday,” Purintun said.
