Incumbent re-elected to Okarche board of ed

Jarrod Mueggenborg retained his seat on the Okarche Board of Education. Mueggenborg defeated Brian Joseph Mueggenborg 332-171 (66% to 34%) in last Tuesday’s election. The vote was spread across both Kingfisher and Canadian counties.

Voters approve hotel tax increase

City voters last Tuesday approved a measure that will raise the hotel and motel tax here by 4%. Beginning July 1, the city’s hotel occupancy excise tax will bump from 5% to 9%. The proposition was approved by a 234-129 margin (64.46% for to 35.54% against).
