Rotary hosts 6 KHS seniors

Six Kingfisher High School seniors were guests recently at a meeting of the Kingfisher Rotary Club.Joining the local civic group were Isabella Gomez, Emily Thomas, Casen Chlouber, Jayson Heldermon, Ximena DeLaTorre and Harper Evans.Gomez is the daughter of Marcie and Jose Gomez.

KHS alum Goodwin latest hire of the KPD

Zach Goodwin saw the advertisement and took a leap of faith.Now he wears a holster and a uniform, one that bears the badge of the Kingfisher Police Department.Goodwin is the newest member of the department, joining on Dec. 15.“It’s been a lot of fun so far,” said Goodwin.

Train derails north of Dover

No injuries and no hazardous chemical spills were reported when a train derailed north of Dover late Monday evening.An apparent broken rail caused the derailment on the Union Pacifi c Railroad at about 10:30 p.m.

Sparks to serve as new chair of BOCC; succeeds Schwarz

Kingfisher County commissioners held their annual “changing of the guard” Monday, electing District 2 Commissioner Michael Sparks to serve as chairman for the 2026 calendar year.He succeeds District 3 Commissioner Anthony Schwarz.
