Lawmakers seek to address Oklahoma’s reading crisis

For roughly a decade now, reading outcomes have plummeted in Oklahoma. In 2015, national tests showed Oklahoma fourth-grade students performed above the national average, but in the most recent round of tests, Oklahoma students’ performance was among the worst in the nation.

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:November 25 - Uttering forged instruments.Officer Aubrey Massey responded to a report of fraud at Interbank, 1209 S. Main St.According to the report, a male suspect cashed a fraudulent check for $2,252.55.

Open primaries’ backers supported Marxist candidate for president

Recent traffic accidents

The following traffic accidents are being investigated by the Kingfisher Police Department:November 26, 1:15 p.m. - At Mitchell Boulevard and Mitchell Drive. Mark Giles, 66, Hennessey, driving a 2023 GMC Sierra, was traveling northbound on Mitchell Drive.

Rotary hosts 6 KHS seniors

Six Kingfisher High School seniors were guests recently at a meeting of the Kingfisher Rotary Club. Joining the local civic group were Damion DeAlba, Rhett Schlegel, Omani Rodriguez, Kevin Smith, Juan Charqueño and Aidan Stephens.DeAlba is the son of Jessica and Jeremy Conner.

November 2025’s Top Raiders

LOMEGA HIGH SCHOOL AND JUNIOR HIGH announced its November 2025 Students of the Month at a Raider Roundup earlier this month. Junior high students earning the honor (left side) were Gracie Sawyer and Ledger Lewallen.
