A longtime Hennessey teacher expressed concerns to the district’s board of education during its May meeting. “I’ve seen a lot of teachers go through here,” said Kathi Reilly, who took early retirement this month as a Hennessey Public School fifth grade teacher.

The Okarche High School speech department’s production of “Kindertransport” by Diane Samuels has advanced to the state finals in the OSSAA one-act play competition. OHS’s play placed second behind Alva in the Class 4A Division 1 regional contest held recently.

The following traffic accident is being investigated by the Kingfisher Police Department: May 8, 3 p.m. - At U.S. 81 and West Miles Avenue. Jamae Frey, 55, Kingfisher, driving a 2018 Dodge, was northbound in the inside lane of U.S.

Communities Foundation of Oklahoma (CFO) announced last week the grantees of the Oklahoma Initiative Fund Grant Cycle. The Oklahoma Initiative Fund is a statewide grant-making initiative that seeks to provide support that will positively impact and strengthen rural communities across the state.

John Robert “Bert” Gritz was re-elected to a two-year term as mayor of the Hennessey Board of Trustees Thursday night. The 1975 Hennessey High School graduate was first elected to the town board in 1979 when he worked in the family’s Gritz Insurance Agency on Main Street.
