Early part of week greeted by rain

Kingfisher received almost a half-inch of rain Monday night and Tuesday morning. Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis recorded .45 inch at the National Weather Service station in Kingfisher and the Mesonet site on the Mueggenborg farm west of Kingfisher recorded .4 inch.

Local students earning UCO diplomas

The University of Central Oklahoma will celebrate the achievements of approximately 1,302 graduates during the Spring 2021 commencement ceremonies May 7-8 at Central’s Wantland Stadium. Gov. George Nigh, former UCO president and Oklahoma’s 22nd governor, will address graduates at the 10 a.m.

NWOSU commencement is Saturday

Spring commencement exercises at Northwestern Oklahoma State University will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at Ranger Field. Dr. Joe Highfill of Norman, 1966 Northwestern graduate, will be speaking at the commencement. Doctoral graduates will include Shannon Dunn of Crescent.

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: April 22 - Carry firearms after conviction/ during probation of felony, prohibited weapon switchblade/knuckles, receiving, possessing, concealing stolen property and warrant.

The 2021 Kingfisher County Wheat Tour will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, at the wheat trial plot located northwest of the county fairgrounds in Kingfisher.

HPS hires Newkirk couple as principal, music teacher

Joshua and Riley Faulkner will join the Hennessey Public School’s staff this fall, and look forward to finding a home in Hennessey. He will take the HHS principal job after the resignation of Angela Avila, who accepted the Chisholm High School principalship.
