Kingfisher County Retired Educators will meet next week. The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, at the Kingfisher Farm Bureau office, 117 W. Sheridan, in Kingfisher. All retired teachers and support personnel are invited and encouraged to attend.

Rep. Mike Dobrinski, R-Okeene, and Sen. Darcy Jech, R-Kingfisher recently recognized the Lomega girls basketball team for back-to-back state championships in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. The team and coaches also got to meet with Gov. Kevin Stitt.

Chisholm Trail Technology Center recently announced its Students of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2020-21. Students earning the honor are pictured above along with their area of study.

Hennessey’s Child Study Club met April 15 and approved a donation to the Hennessey High School “After Prom” Committee. Members met at the home of Carol Peach, and Vice President Charlene Choate called the meeting to order.

Kingfisher Lions Club members had the opportunity last Thursday to ask Fire Chief Tony Stewart a myriad of questions regarding a sales tax proposition on a May 11 ballot. The proposition is asking City of Kingfisher voters to pass a one-half cent sales tax that would last 10 years.

Former House Majority Leader Mike Sanders recently was appointed by House Speaker Charles McCall to serve as a member of the State Governmental Technology Applications Review Board. The term begins immediately and expires Feb. 28, 2023.

Kingfisher Heritage School in Kingfisher has announced its Students of the Month for September 2020. Fourth graders on the top row who were recognized were, from left: Celeste Charqueño, Drew Snider, Kennedy Stewart, Magaly Charqueño, Maecyn Tollefson and R.J. McCarty.

Okarche High School recently announced its March 2021 Students of the Month and Lion and Lioness. The Students of the Month (pictured left) were eighth grader Brenna Crider (left) and senior Hayley Coffey (right). The Lion and Lioness (pictured right) were junior Osbaldo Barcenas and Coffey.

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: April 12 - Criminal trespass and obtaining refund by false information. Officer Charles Trout responded to a report of theft at Walmart, 200 W. Starlite Drive.
