Voters in Kingfisher County who want to have absentee ballots mailed to them for school board and city elections should apply now, Kingfisher County Election Board Secretary Shawna Butts said.

The Altrua Club met at the Chisholm Trail Museum on January 20. Members present were Carolyn Flood, Jeanette Kloeppel, Terri Peck, Sue Robinson, Jowanna Sisk, Cheryl Wheelbarger and Dorothy Whitaker. President President Wheelbarger conducted the meeting and Martha Burdit served as hostess.

Chisholm Trail Technology Center recently announced its 2020-21 Students of the Third Quarter. The students were selected based on academics, leadership skills and overall student performance.

The Oklahoma Oil & Gas Expo is set for Oct. 14 at the State Fair Park Bennett Event Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.Hosted by Sustaining Oklahoma’s Energy Resources (SOER), a program under the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board (OERB), the one-day event is organized and hosted by local industry volunteers.

Oklahoma Blood Institute is encouraging donors to rise up and give. Blood donors will receive a free, limited edition t-shirt. Oklahoma Blood Institute is hosting three upcoming local drives: • March 17 at Hennessey Commuity Center, 2-7 p.m. • March 24 at Dover High School, 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

The Hennessey Child Study Club met March 4 at the First Christian Church with Randi Simpson calling the meeting to order. Several members signed up to attend the State Convention April 10-11 in Norman at the Embassy Suites.

Citing an opportunity to take on new challenges, longtime Kingfisher Superintendent Jason Sternberger’s next career move takes him to the north end of the county.

Kingfisher Board of Education President Mike Copeland said the school district is in better shape now than a decade ago when Jason Sternberger took over as superintendent. “In my opinion, yes we are,” he said. “We’ve made a lot of strides at KPS to advance the overall student experience.
