State Sens. Darcy Jech and Brent Howard invite citizens across western Oklahoma to participate in Oklahoma’s redistricting process by attending the Senate-sponsored town hall meeting in Clinton on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The meeting will be held at the Frisco Conference Center in Clinton at 6 p.m.

January sales tax was down for all Kingfisher County towns except Kingfisher and Loyal. Kingfisher’s increase was minimal, 1.9 % . Loyal’s tax rose by 18.1%. The slowdown in oilfield activity continues to negatively impact municipal and county sales and use tax revenue.

Two seats on the Hennessey town board, along with the treasurer and clerk positions, will be decided by municipal voters April 6. Candidate filing is Monday-Wednesday, Feb. 1-3, at the county election board.

Kingfisher High School recently announced its Students of the Month for December 2020. Students are chosen based on several characteristics including responsibility, leadership, work ethic, reliability, kindness and others.

The Oklahoma State Election Board released annual voter registration statistics today showing 2,272,252 Oklahomans are registered to vote. Oklahoma’s official voter registration statistics are counted every year on Jan. 15.

Tobacco kills thousands of Oklahomans every year. In an effort to change that, Gov. Kevin Stitt has declared Jan. 20-27, 2021, as Oklahoma Quit Week. The OK to Quit Campaign is working to raise awareness of the free resources available to help people quit using all kinds of tobacco products.
