Board taps Cangiano as interim Hennessey police chief

Hennessey Police Chief Hank Weber’s resignation was accepted by the town board then named Assistant Police Chief Ed Cangiano as interim chief in a special meeting Thursday morning. Weber, a 1988 Hennessey High School graduate, returned to his hometown as police chief in August 2009.

Inmate, jailer test positive for COVID-19

Kingfisher County Sheriff Dennis Banther reported that an inmate and staff member tested positive for COVID-19 last week, the first cases of the virus in the county jail. The inmate was tested after running a fever and the diagnosis was confirmed Wednesday, Banther said.

HHS grad named National Proficiency finalist

Kaden Mitchell of the Hennessey FFA Chapter is a National Proficiency Award Finalist in the area of turf grass management. He is among only four finalists from across the country that are selected per proficiency area each year.
