Kingfisher Police Department reports

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: August 2 - Acts resulting in gross injury and eluding a police officer. Officer Brandon Chapman responded to a report of indecent exposure in the 500 block of North First Street.

Cashion and Okarche both showed nice gains in their sales tax checks for August. Other county municipalities and Kingfisher County all showed losses, reflecting diminished oilfield activity as well as continued effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 Risk Level: Back to orange

Kingfisher County’s COVID-19 alert risk was upgraded Friday to moderate, after the number of new daily cases climbed slightly over the last seven days. With a daily average of new cases now at 16.31 per 100,000 population, the county joins 27 others in the “orange” category.

Nearly twice as many vehicles were entered in this year’s Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce Kool Cars and Chrome as were entered in 2019. The car show was hosted Aug. 1 in conjunction with the Kingfisher retail merchants’ annual Crazy Days and the citywide garage sales.

Kati Walters appointed Hennessey town clerk

Hennessey native and HHS graduate Kati (Wymore) Walters was appointed clerk for the Town of Hennessey at the board’s Thursday night meeting. This is an elective position and her appointment extends until the next town office filings and election in February.

4-H serving steak sandwiches during fair fundraiser

You can dine on a steak sandwich and support local 4-H at the same time at this year’s Kingfisher County Fair. Kingfisher County 4-H will be hosting a fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.
