HPS board votes to rehire 54 teachers

FOOD BANK DONATION

Ovintiv (formerly Encana Corp.) donated $7,500 to the Kingfisher Public Schools food bank Wednesday.

LEAP DAY CLEANUP

A total of 25 volunteers pitched in to clean up the small lake area and walking trails west of Walter Building Center, organized by Kingfisher Trails Inc. The group collected about 10 dump trailer loads of limbs and filled a roll-off dumpster with trash.

FIRE DEPARTMENT FUNDS

Representatives from all eight of the fire departments in Kingfisher County hosted State Sen. Darcy Jech and Rep. Mike Sanders recently at the Okarche Fire Station.

Grants available for elderly services

The Long Term Care Authority of Enid Area Agency on Aging announces the availability of Older Americans Act funds for legally formed public, private or not-for-profit organizations in the counties of Alfalfa, Blaine, Garfield, Grant, Kay, Kingfisher, Major and Noble.

August grand opening set for Dome

Some school board members appeared surprised when Supt. Dr. Mike Woods told them there would not be an official grand opening of the $8.4 million Eagle Event Center until August.

Yost family farm earns Centennial Farm Award

Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer Lynda Ozan announced that an Oklahoma Centennial Farm Award has been presented to the owners of a Kingfisher County farm. Dennis and Beverly Yost of Kingfisher own the Yost Farm located in the vicinity of Kingfisher.

HPS bonds sell at 1.4% interest rate

There were only two bids for consideration by Hennessey Board of Education members for $1.75 million in taxable building bonds and they unanimously accepted the 1.40% low bid from Bank of Oklahoma. The bonds will be issued May 1, the board was told during their special meeting at noon Tues.

KHS Hall of Fame nominees sought

The deadline to nominate 2020 inductees into the Kingfisher High School Hall of Fame is March 23. The hall of fame will induct up to four new members each year, including either KHS graduates or administrators or faculty.
