Kingfisher High School seniors Blake Neal, Karter Webster, Caden Hill, Ashton Wensman and Kyle Fahlenkamp were guests last week of the Kingfisher Rotary Club. Fahlenkamp is the son of Kyle Fahlenkamp and Tiffany Farrar. He’s active football, track and FFA.

Marissa Choate updated members of the Hennessey Child Study Club about plans for the Friday, Feb. 7, Mother-Son Ball and the Saturday, Feb. 8, Father-Daughter Dance at the club’s Jan. 23 meeting.

The Happy Homemakers OHCE met Jan. 13. Amy Tollison, president, called the meeting to order and led the flag salute. The devotion was read by Carol Liles. The minutes of the November meeting were read and approved. Susan Haynie and members are going to help with door prizes and baskets.

Lomega’s schedule for Feb. 3-7 is as follows: Monday - Basketball at Holy Trinity (third and fourth grade at 3 p.m.; fifth and sixth grade at 4 p.m.; seventh and eighth grade at 5:30 p.m.) Wednesday - “Froshmore” academic team at Fairview, 9:30 a.m.; SWAT, noon; elementary remediation, 3:30 p.m.

Dover’s school schedule for Feb. 3-7 is as follows: Monday - Elementary and junior high basketball vs. Okarche, 4:30 p.m. Tuesday - High school basketball at Aline-Cleo, 6:30 p.m. Thursday - Parent-teacher conferences, 3:30-6:30 p.m.; third & fourth and fifth & sixth basketball vs.

Richard Simunek, Hennessey preservationist and town board member, announced a $1.35 million matching gift to the town for the library, history center and “old school gym” located on Hennessey’s Main Street. The gift is on behalf of Simunek and his late wife, Zorita Zevely Simunek, who died in 2012.

Times & Free Press contributor Barb Walter recently won the Oklahoma Press Association’s column-writing contest with her column entitled “It was time,” published in November in this newspaper.

Individuals and businesses can now make donations on behalf of Kingfisher Public Schools and earn up to a 75% credit on their 2020 state income taxes.
