A joint venture between private equity firm Bayou City Energy and energy producer Mach Resources submitted the winning bid in a Texas bankruptcy court last week for the assets of Alta Mesa Resources and its subsidiary Kingfi sher Midstream.

Closing arguments are scheduled March 31 in a federal class action law suit fi led by Hennessey resident Perry Cline against Sunoco Inc. on behalf of mineral interest owners who weren’t paid interest on late payments received from the company.

Kingfisher County commissioners opened bids on two items Tuesday, accepting the low bid on printing election ballots from Midwest Printing Co.of Sapulpa and tabling action on bids for a radio tower for the sheriff’s department. The second bid for ballots came from Royal Printing of Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma’s fast-growing medical marijuana market is also swelling state and local tax revenue, but not evenly across the state. Medical marijuana generated more than $34.5 million in tax revenue through the end of September.

According to the OMMA website, three medical marijuana dispensaries are registered in Kingfisher County – August Pharms and Health Express no. 2-T LLC, both listed in Kingfi sher, and Country Dr. Dispensary Inc., listed in Dover.

The final tournament week of the season will include six of the seven local schools beginning Thursday. Two schools are hosting tournaments. Kingfisher hosts its annual Buckle of the Wheat-belt and Cashion plays host to the County Line Tournament.

Kingfisher Study Club met Jan. 8 in the Sherry Blair home with Linda Randall as co-hostess. President Melda Fischer opened the meeting reading from “Live and Learn and Pass It On” then asked the 14 members present to answer roll telling something they had learned in life.

The Kingfisher Bookcase Review Club will meet Monday, Jan. 27. The meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Farm Bureau Insurance, 117 W. Sheridan. A $10 Dutch treat lunch will be served. Kathy Kadavy of Kingfisher will review “Cherokee America” by Margaret Verble.
