Kingfisher County commissioners opened 35 six-month bids on road and bridge materials and services at their regular weekly meeting Monday. District 3 Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny moved to table action on the bids to give staff time to tabulate the bids, lowest to highest.

Two members of the Energize for Safety Coalition received awards for their efforts to make the local S.H. 33 corridor safer at an appreciation luncheon Wednesday at Chisholm Trail Technology Center (CTTC). Coalition president Tom Robins presented the “Driving Safety Together” awards to Supt.

Thunderstorms and slow showers more reminiscent of May and June than November brought needed moisture to growing grain crops. Rain showers fell across Kingfisher County beginning Wednesday. Rainfall amounts were in the neighborhood of one inch across much of the county.

As 2020 approaches, members of the Kingfi sher Meals on Wheels board of directors are working to ensure the program can stay operable in the coming year. The program currently serves 45 senior citizens with a hot meal each weekday.

The Kingfisher Elks Lodge is planning a memorial service for members who passed away in the last year. The service is at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, in the lodge’s dining room. All spouses and all family of the departed members are invited. Refreshments will be served after the service.

Kingfisher High School seniors Georgina Tarango, Cassidi Marshall, Gina Franco and Tyler Cowdery were guests last week of the Kingfisher Rotary Club. Tarango is the daughter of Jose and Georgina Tarango. She is active in Spanish Club, newspaper and soccer and also ran cross country.

Hennessey Elementary School recently recognized its Eagles of the Week for the week ending Nov. 15.
