Road projects to start

Kingfisher County commissioners approved notices to proceed on two asphalt overlay projects by Haskell Lemon Construction Co. based on low bids submitted earlier Tuesday at their weekly meeting. One project is in District 2 – NS 2830 Road from the Cimarron River Bridge north to S.H.

Light Your World Church southeast of Okarche is now lighting the road with an 85-foot cross erected by the congregation last month. Several contractors donated their labor to help cut the cost of the project by more than half.

County’s EMS gets clean bill of health

A quartet of Kingfisher High School seniors attended last week’s Kingfisher Rotary Club meeting as guests. Attending were Emma Barnett, Kenzie Smith, Keely Franks and Keaton Abercrombie. Barnett is the daughter of Fay and Tiffanie Barnett.

Local man dies from apparently self-inflicted gun injury

A 46-year-old Kingfisher man was pronounced dead at his home from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head Saturday afternoon.The body of Bradley Allen Schoelen was found at his home at 12058 E. 770 Road about 4:10 p.m.

Judge says state’s burden met
