Kingfisher County Assessor Carolyn Mulherin has certified her report on county property valuations to the county excise board.

Kingfisher County’s estimate of needs for the 2019-20 fiscal year totals $17,161,762.18, according to the publication of the county’s financial statement last week. The county’s solid financial status is revealed in the $12,082,106.67 cash fund balance carried over from last fiscal year.

A Kingfisher teenager, Koby William Leblanc, 18, has been charged with murder and first degree burglary in Oklahoma County District Court. Leblanc, who is charged in a case in which officials say a burglary victim was shot three times and his wallet stolen Feb. 12.

Hennessey United’s board voted to accept credit cards at the gate during the ninth annual Wine & Chocolate Festival. The festival is planned 1-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Memorial Park in Hennessey.

Fifty- nine descendants and guests of Chas Wehrenberg gathered at the Loyal United Methodist Church on July 27 for a reunion. The Wehrenberg family settled in Indian Territory in 1901 near the town of Loyal, which was then known as Kiel.

In June 2020, a group of nine or 10 high school students led by Rotarian leaders will depart for a two-week adventure in northern Japan. It’s called Wings of Rotary and is an annual trip to part of the Tohoku region identified as Rotary International District 2520.

Oklahoma Blood Institute will hold a Bigfoot-themed blood drive with Kingfisher High School on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The blood drive will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1500 S. 13th St.  Each blood donor will receive a limited edition Bigfoot t-shirt.

Voters in Kingfisher County who want to have absentee ballots mailed to them for the upcoming school bond elections in Cashion and Kingfisher and municipal election in Dover should apply now, Kingfisher County Election Board Secretary Shawna Butts said.The special election is Tuesday, Sept. 10.
