Rep. Mike Sanders announced this week progress and scheduled work on highways and bridges in Kingfisher counties, totaling millions of dollars.
“In previous columns, I gave updates of Oklahoma Department of Transportation(ODOT) roads and bridges projects in Blaine, Dewey and Woodward counties.
Although work is now progressing well on the U.S. 81 project south of Kingfisher, record rainfall earlier this year has pushed the estimated completion date back to mid to late October, an ODOT spokesperson said Tuesday.

SIXTH STREET SINKHOLE — Paved and unpaved county roads weren’t the only byways to take a beating from May and June flooding. This surprise sinkhole opened up Tuesday afternoon on the 300 block of North Sixth Street in Kingfisher where the road base had washed away from under the pavement.
Encana has halted well completion activities on a two-square-mile pad development west of Kingfisher after a series of earthquakes rocked that area Wednesday and Thursday.
