Tribes, churches join effort to restore homes

After recent Kingfisher flooding, several groups partnered to help bring relief to those whose houses sustained the most extensive damage. “The houses were completely unlivable,” said Alan Fletcher, director of emergency management for the Cheyenne and Arapaho (C&A) Tribes.

Harvest in gear

Kingfisher County’s wheat harvest got back in gear Monday. A weekend shower stopped cutting Sunday but the wheat began to roll in again on Monday and test weights remained surprisingly high despite the heavy rains the crop has endured.

Humphries celebrate 50th anniversary

Jerry and Carolyn Humphries of Dover celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last Sunday. A family dinner hosted by their children was held at the home of Jerry and Priya Humphries.

Harold, Drulaine Drake to be celebrated at FBC Kingfisher

There will be a retirement celebration this Sunday at First Baptist Church Kingfisher. The celebration is to honor 32 years of service by Harold and Drulaine Drake. The church’s service begins at 11 a.m. and the retirement celebration fellowship will follow.

OHS grad Matthews re-enlists in U.S. Navy
