KHS opens XC season with dominant win

It was a big-time debut in two respects.The Kingfisher High School girls cross country team opened its 2022 season Saturday by winning the team championship at the Weatherford Invitational meet at Rader Park.

Kingfisher’s annual meet this Saturday at Briscoe

Kingfisher won’t have to go far at all for its second cross country meet of the season.The Kingfisher Cross Country Invitational is this Saturday, Aug. 27.The meet will be contested at Briscoe Park and will feature four races:• High school boys at 8:30 a.m.• High school girls at approximately 9 a.m.

A pair of lopsided wins on Saturday helped ease the pain of a disappointing defeat on Friday for the Kingfisher High School softball team.

Kingfisher and Cashion were among the Oklahoma high school football teams that got their first live action of the season on Thursday.KHS traveled to Fairview for its first and only scrimmage of the season. The teams were joined by Watonga.

KHS splits Highway 33 openers

Kingfisher split its first two games Thursday in the Highway 33 Classic softball tournament.The Lady Jackets opened pool play on their main field with a 10-1 victory against Watonga before falling later in the day to defending champ Dibble, 9-1.

Kingfisher High School senior catcher Mya Dewberry lunges in an attempt to haul in a foul ball during the Lady Jackets’ home opener last Monday against Bethany. The game was the first of a long home stand for KHS through the end of this month.
