On-court adversity had yet to visit the Kingfisher girls basketball team through five games. It did in No. 6. But the Lady Jackets answered the call, dominated the second half and brought home the Compass Athletics Winter Basketball Classic championship.

The Kingfisherboysbasketball team was supposed to be off this weekend. But this is 2020 and nothing is going the way it’s supposed to. The Jackets found out late last Tuesday morning that the Tournament of Champions they were slated to play in later this month had been canceled.

There were about four events wrapped into one during Kingfisher’s home wrestling dual last week. When KHS hosted Hinton Tuesday at the APB, it served as the 2020-21 season opener, home opener, Senior Night and homecoming all in one.

Kingfisher and Elgin shot the exact same percentage in their girls basketball game last Friday. But that was about the only similar stat in the Lady Jackets’ 64-30 road win. While both KHS and the Lady Owls were 33.3 percent from the field, the Lady Jackets shot it 30 more times.
